Google Penguin 4.0 is now Real-Time – Learn what this means and how it affects your SERPS!

So the wait is finally over, Google has now rolled out its latest Penguin 4.0 update.

But what is the Google Penguin update all about?

Let’s know more about the much-awaited Penguin 4.0 update below:

What is Google Penguin?

Google first launched its Penguin update back in 2012…

It is a filter that helps them catch the sites that are spamming the search results by buying links or obtaining them through link networks designed primarily to boost Google’s search rankings.

Such sites would remain penalized even if they try to alter or improvise it, and would only get free until Google ran its next filter run which could take another few months.

Or..

The users could Disavow Links through Google’s Webmaster Tools..

Penguin would hunt down all those inorganic links which were bought or placed only for the sake of improving the SERPs.

But before Penguin was even rolled out for the first time, Google only devalued the bad links which were needed to be replaced to provide better search results its users.

What to expect from Google Penguin 4.0?

It is now Real-Time!

With the latest release by Google – Penguin 4.0..

Now:

The data refreshes in REAL TIME..

So the changes will be visible much faster, typically taking effect shortly after they recrawl and reindex a page.

What does this mean to you?

It means that the search algorithm will work in real-time.

It will catch spam link profiles as quickly as possible and keep away the low-quality sites from ranking well in the search results.

So:

Do not build any low profile backlinks anymore.

It is now more Granular:

Penguin will now devalue or deindex spam by adjusting ranking based on spam signal, rather than affecting the ranking of the whole site.

Here is a quick example:

If one part or page of your website has a spammy backlink profile, Google will penalize only that part or page and not your entire domain.

So there will be no sitewide negative ranking.

Even if you have worked hard on the SEO part for that page, it will still be penalized if Penguin finds it heavily spammed.

Here is what Dr. Peter J Meyers from Moz has to say about Penguin 4.0

I’ve often said that measuring algorithm flux is like tracking the unemployment rate. It’s interesting to the economy at large if the rate is 5% or 6%, but ultimately you either have a job or you don’t. If you were hit by an algorithm update, it’s little comfort that the MozCast temperature was low on that day.

Final Conclusion

After a period of development and testing, Google has started rolling out the Penguin 4.0 algorithm update in all the languages.

So we guess that within a couple of weeks, Google’s Penguin 4.0 will start running live everywhere.
